Brakes That Can Handle the Load

stopBrake Safety Week is back which means CVSE Officers will be randomly inspecting commercial vehicles from September 6th to the 12th. The purpose of the event is to ensure vehicles travelling on BC roads are safe by meeting specific vehicle standards.

In 2014, 300 units were inspected throughout BC during Brake Safety Week. That number is more than double than that of the province with the second highest number of inspections. This province will likely see a repeat of a large number of inspections this year.

Given the terrain in BC with the mountainous roadways, it’s important to ensure vehicles are adequately maintained, especially the brakes, to improve other road users’ safety. To better prepare for Brake Safety Week, review the Vehicle Inspection Manual and the Commercial Transport Procedures Manual.
